Typical applications

CuSn8 combines excellent sliding properties with comparatively high strength values. The material is wear resistant and corrosion resistant, which makes sliding components such as plain bearings (thin walled bushings) and guide elements one of its principal fields of application.

CuSn8 offers good soldering and brazing characteristics, while machinability is only moderate. The increased phosphorus content of CuSn8P (0.2 to 0.4 % P) is intended to further improve wear resistance and sliding behaviour. Both CuSn8 and CuSn8P are lead free materials. Our tin bronze alloys therefore withstand high mechanical loads, which makes them attractive for a wide range of industrial applications.
