CuSn7Pb15-C is the softest of the classic bearing materials and is at home wherever conditions get rough. The high lead content provides very good sliding and emergency running properties, even with a temporary lack of lubricant and with water lubrication. This makes the material the right choice for bearings with very high surface pressures, where strong edge pressure can occur. Under DIN EN 1982 it is designated CuSn7Pb15-C, with material number CC496K. In the trade it is known under the earlier DIN designation CuPb15Sn and the earlier material number 2.1182.
CuSn7Pb15-C is resistant to sulphuric acid and very easy to machine. Above an operating temperature of 120 degrees Celsius it is not suitable.

Acc. to DIN EN 1982, 8.2.2 the above min. values for continuous cast (GC) are only valid for sizes up to 300 mm. For larger sizes these values are only a guideline.
